If you want to learn about the kidneys, how they effect the body, and how to evaluate/treat kidneys and kidney pathology, this is a fantastic and easy to read book. It is written by the ‘National Kidney Foundation’, so it’s easy to quote a source.I love how they write how the AHA and the JNC8 came to their conclusions for HTN treatment. And the textbook does not make a stand as to which one you should use. In sum, they all had access to the same information, but JNC8 only used top studies for a guideline to follow; the AHA took many studies, some not great, and clumped them together to have a larger population to determine what BP goal a person should have. So when someone says, ‘AHA is better, b/c it came out after JNC8’, it means they did not read where AHA and JNC8 got their data.
